Dry body brushing is a great way to improve your skin!
- It helps both vascular blood circulation and lymphatic drainage. By releasing toxins, it encourages the body’s discharge of metabolic wastes so the body is able to run more effectively.
- It stimulates the nerve endings in the skin and rejuvenates the nervous system.
- It helps with muscle tone and gives you a more even distribution of fat deposits.
- It helps your skin to absorb nutrients by eliminating clogged pores.
- After dry brushing, gently apply your essential oil blend diluted in a body lotion, cream or oil. I like a mixture of Geranium, Juniper and Cypress!
I also love the way my skin feels after an Aromatic Salt Scrub and while I’ve got out of the habit of doing this a little, with the warmer weather coming along, it is time for me to get back into a regular routine of Dry Brushing and Aromatic Salt Scrubs.
Aromatic Salt Scrub
- Mix 1 cup Epsom Salts and 1 cup Sea Salt
- I add 6 drops of my essential oil blend to 1 – 2 Tablespoons of my chosen carrier oil
- Then I mix everything together well.
- Now I’m ready to get into the shower and wet my body with warm water.
- I turn off the shower and start rubbing in the salt mixture into my skin starting at the top and working down.
- Then I turn the shower back on and stand there for 2 minutes to let the steam open the pores. Sometimes I continue to rub in the salt.
- Finally I rinse off the salt mixture and am left with skin feeling wonderfully soft and pliant.
Based on the time of year, my needs and my moods I like to change up my essential oil blends. Customizing the blend to meet my needs really takes the practice of Dry Brushing and Aromatic Salt Scrubs to a whole new level. Often I will use the same blend in my body lotion and Aromatic Salt Scrub but not always.
