Characteristics of Libra
Libra symbolizes harmony, equilibrium, and balance. Libra teaches serenity. It represents the capacity of the mind to gain control over the nervous system. The endpoint of Libra is to calm down.
Librans have no natural defenses for their equilibrium. Their peace must be sustained through indefatigable effort. It doesn’t happen automatically.
The paradox of Libra is that they are the symbol of calm, but their nerves are stretched tight. Their task is to learn how to ensure that their tightly strung nerves are never plucked but all the while remaining sensitive and calm. If Libra’s surroundings are harmonious this will translate itself into inner harmony for them. This sense of harmony is Libra’s resource.
Libra tolerates a paradox like no other sign. They do not need the world to make sense. Opposing philosophies, opposing people, opposing alternatives, Libra accepts them all. They understand that Truth lies in the balance of the two, and to Libra, every truth is composed of two half-truths.
On the shadow side, Libra can be indecisive. A tolerance for paradox can be wisdom but in everyday life, it can lead to indecision.
