Advent Synergy

  • Advent Synergy | West Coast Institute of Aromatherapy

Advent started last Sunday so I made sure to create my Advent Synergy last week.  Lighting the candles in my Advent Wreath is an important daily Advent ritual for me.  Using my special Advent Synergy Spritzer when I light the candles makes it even more special.

The four oils in my Advent Synergy were chosen based on the meaning of each candle.

The First Candle is the Candle of Hope.  Bergamot is the essential oil I have chosen for Hope.

Joni Kein and Ruah Bull, in their book Daily Aromatherapy, Transforming the Seasons of Your Life with Essential Oils sayIt promotes hope and bring in positive energy. Bringing light into dark times. It can lighten a heavy or wounded heart and lightens and helps the heart to radiate love.

The Second Candle is the Candle of Faith.  Spikenard is the essential oil I have chosen for Faith.

Joni Kein and Ruah Bull, in their book Daily Aromatherapy, Transforming the Seasons of Your Life with Essential Oils say: It restores a sense of trust and faith. Comforts and brings peace to the heart center, especially when facing the predicaments of the world.

The Third Candle is the Candle of Joy. Orange is the essential oil I have chosen for Joy.

Joni Kein and Ruah Bull, in their book Daily Aromatherapy, Transforming the Seasons of Your Life with Essential Oils say:  It promotes joy and delight. Brings in positive energy with its “sunlight” quality.

The Fourth Candle is the Candle of Peace. Neroli is the essential oil I have chosen for Peace.

Joni Kein and Ruah Bull, in their book Daily Aromatherapy, Transforming the Seasons of Your Life with Essential Oils say: It promotes a sense of peace and wholeness. Rejuvenates and nurtures the heart center.

My Advent Blend

Bergamot 7 parts
Spikenard 3 parts
Orange 5 parts
Neroli 5 parts

This can be used in a number of different ways.  Any of the diffuser methods will work, as will adding it to potpourri.  However, my preference is to add my blend to a Spritzer that I can spray to shift the energetics before I start to light my candles.  As it is an energetic spray I like to keep it really light.  I start with 20 ml grain alcohol and 79 ml distilled water in a 100ml spritzer bottle.  Then I add 20 drops of my essential oil blend.  I like to let everything marry for a few days and then it is ready to use.
