Summer is here with all its fun outdoor activities, but how will your feet hold up? Of course regular pedicures and cute nail polish are helpful, but why not include a simple foot care routine and you will have Happy Summer Feet all season long.

Cypress (Cupressus sempervirens) has astringent, deodorant properties. It is cooling and drying and helpful for sweaty feet.
Frankincense (Boswellia carterii) has antiseptic, astringent and revitalizing properties. It reduces sweat secretions and is healing to blisters and wounds.
Grapefruit (Citrus x paradise) is refreshing with diuretic properties. It can help to increase circulation and stimulate the lymphatic system. Also consider for athlete’s foot. Caution as it can be phototoxic.
Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia), has anti-fungal, antiseptic and analgesic properties. It can be helpful with blisters. It also strengthens cracked nails.
Lemon (Citrus limonum) has refreshing, antiviral and antiseptic properties. It can help eliminate corns and warts and is good for nails. Caution don’t use it before going out in the sun as the oils does have phototoxic properties. Excellent in a foot night care cream.
Palmarosa (Cymbopogon martinii) has anti-fungal, antiseptic and cooling properties. It is excellent against any foot fungus.
Patchouli (Pogostemon cablin) has antiseptic and anti-fungal and natural deodorant properties. It can be healing for dry, cracked and chapped skin.
Peppermint (Mentha piperita) has analgesic and cooling properties. It can help to relieve aches and pains, promotes circulation, cool the skin, ease edema and inflammation, and soothe itching.
Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis ct. verbenone) has antiseptic and cell regenerating properties. It is good for alleviating tired aching feet as well as nourishing dry and cracked skin and promoting circulation.
Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) has antiviral and anti-fungal properties. It is excellent for sweaty feet and athlete’s foot.

Simple Foot Bath.
Fill your foot bath (or basin or bucket) with warm water and two tablespoons of Epsom salts. Epsom salts are very helpful for softening dry skin. Remember that essential oils do not dissolve in water so add an equal number of drops of emulsifier to your essential oil blend, or if you don’t have an emulsifier add an equal number of drops of liquid soap to disperse the essential oil droplets through the water. Add 5 – 6 drops of your essential oil or essential oil synergy to the same number of drops of your emulsifier, then add this to the water, agitate, then immerse your feet and relax.

Refreshing Foot Spritzer
Fill a spray bottle with 50 ml hydrosol or distilled water to which you would add 12 – 15 drops of your essential oil synergy. Shake well and keep the bottle in the fridge to keep it cool. Shake before misting feet for a refreshing, cooling experience.
